WCATY Young Students Summer Program at Beloit College
Beloit, Rock County
This program will be the first time away from home for many young learners, and it is a new and exciting experience both in and out of the classroom. Students at this age especially enjoy the novelty of having just one class with motivated classmates in a subject area they love, and they quickly recognize they have entered a new world of learning possibilities. Our philosophy is that students in this age range need to learn about the many different avenues open to their curious minds. The classes are fast-paced and cover a great amount of material. Having a week of class devoted to the same topic guarantees that students will have a good knowledge of the subject and a basis for further independent study. YSSP classes are small and are designed to enrich learning and introduce new disciplines, helping students expand their knowledge about the world and to discover how much there is to learn. Quickly, they will discover that there are others their age with similar interests and a similar passion for learning.
After a day immersed in one subject area, residential students have the opportunity to engage in a different kind of learning. Activity options include chess instruction, knitting, spoken word, ballroom dance, or a variety of other activities designed to spark completely different kinds of talents and interests.
