"The fifth annual Sand Lake Conservation Camp will be will be held at Camp Bird June 24-26th, 2010 for Wisconsin & Upper Michigan youth attending grades 6-8 this fall. Conservation Camp provides youth with positive educational outdoor experiences, helps them better appreciate and understand nature, and introduces them to the variety of opportunities in natural resources and conservation careers. Campers are exposed to environmental issues, social situations, and hands-on activities, all of which contribute to life-long learning. Activities and programs include topics such as wildlife ecology, water quality, fisheries, forestry, and outdoor skills (orienteering, canoeing, etc.). Sponsored by Marinette County Land & Water Conservation, UW-Extension, Parks/Forestry/Outdoor Recreation Division, and the WI DNR."

Location: This camp takes place at Camp Bird Youth Camp, located about 16 miles west of Crivitz., Marinette County
Program: Resident camp. Sessions for - coeds grades 6 to 8
Season: June 24 to June 26. 2010
Registration: Youth from Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula entering grades 6-8 this fall are invited to participate. Registration cut off date is June 14th.
Fees: Fee $50 if postmarked on or before 6/4/10 and $65 if postmarked after 6/4/10. Registrations not accepted after June 14th and space is limited.
Activities:
Archery, canoeing/kayaking, nature/environmental studies, outdoor skills, swimming
Medical Care: First-aid & CPR certified staff on site.
Parent Visitation: No - only to drop off & pick up campers.
Camp Established: 2006
Accreditations and Affiliations: Camp Bird is managed by the Marinette County Public Works Department (Parks/Forestry/Outdoor Recreation Division).
