Sand Lake Conservation Camp
Crivitz, Marinette County
| The seventh annual Sand Lake Conservation Camp will be will be held at Camp Bird June 21-23, 2012 for Wisconsin & Upper Michigan youth entering grades 6-8 in the fall. Conservation Camp provides positive educational outdoor experiences, helps foster an appreciation for nature, and introduces a variety of opportunities in natural resources and conservation careers. Campers are exposed to environmental issues, social situations, and hands-on activities, all of which contribute to life-long learning. Activities include topics such as wildlife ecology, water quality, fisheries, forestry, and outdoor skills (orienteering, canoeing, fire-building, etc.). Other programs include campers' choice activities and visits by the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary of Green Bay, the Wisconsin DNR, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

This camp takes place at Camp Bird Youth Camp, located about 16 miles west of Crivitz.Resident camp. Sessions for - coeds grades 6 to 8. June 21 to June 23. 2012Youth from Wisconsin and Michigan's UP entering grades 6-8 this fall can participate. Registration cut off is June 8th. Registrations taken first-come, first-served, and there may be a waiting list to attend due to camp popularity.$55 if postmarked on or before 6/1/12 & $70 if postmarked after 6/1/12. Cutoff date is June 8th, & space is limited. Fee assistance is available.| Activities: Archery, canoeing/kayaking, nature/environmental studies, outdoor skills, rope course, swimming. Also - Cabin group competitions include a fire-building contest, a scavenger hunt, and Conservation Jeopardy. Prizes will be awarded at camp closing to winning cabins. |
