Ach Ja! Traditional German-American Music from Wisconsin (2 CDs)
Philip Martin and James P Leary. "A nice range of material from the domestic tradition to the public semiprofessional, many pieces clearly with Old World origins, others representing immigrant experiences in the New World." - Journal of American Folklore. Ach Ya! was selected in 1985 as an outstanding American folk music recording by the Library of Congress American Folklife Center. Featuring acapella singers, yodelers, zither players, button accordionists, and full-fledged "Dutchman" bands from Watertown to Wausau, from Cedar Grove to Birnamwood, this compilation's nearly 50 performances were chosen by folklorists Philip Martin and James P Leary following a year of intensive field and archival research. Accompanied by an extensively annotated booklet, the CD's tracks follow four themes: Around the Table, Children's Songs and Rites of Passage, Across the Generations, and Dance Melodies and Marches. A valuable resource for teachers of German, especially in the Badger State, the lives, lyrics, and melodies captured on Ach Ya! help reflect and define the German American experience in Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest.

Down Home Dairyland, A Listener's Guide (20 CDs)
James P Leary and Richard March. "This astounding compendium is the quickest way to get a comprehensive grasp of the roots music of a major American region." - Nick Spitzer, Smithsonian folklorist and producer of American Routes for Public Radio International.
Folklorists Jim Leary and Rick March have distilled a definitive presentation of Upper Midwestern traditional and ethnic music, from Ojibwe drums to Norwegian fiddles, from polka to salsa, from gospel choirs to southeast Asian rock bands. Henry Aaron's Summer Up North - DVD
Henry Aaron's Summer Up North chronicles the living legend's struggles, setbacks and successes in one important, if not trying, summer of minor league baseball in the northwoods community of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In dramatic fashion, the widely unknown chapter of the Hall of Famer's life unfolds by paralleling Aaron's attempts to bridge the cultural divide between growing up in the segregated South and starting his professional baseball career in the North. The film was an official selection to the 2006 National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Film Festival in Cooperstown, NY, the 2005 Wisconsin Film Festival, the 2005 Black Point Film Festival and the 2005 Independent Black Film Festival. A great gift for Wisconsin baseball fans.

Midwest Ramblin', The Goose Island Ramblers
"The Ramblers... bring a rich heritage of Norwegian fiddle and dance music to their string-band-with-accordion format." - Old Time Country.

"The Ramblers' songs are largely parodies, sung in the gruff, hearty, ya-you-betcha style of Midwest radio legend Slim Jim, and their instrumental arrangements keep a long program fresh, with occasional twin fiddle, mandolin-fiddle, or dobro accompaniments to the accordion's lead." - The Old-Time Herald.

Now on CD, a toe-tapping re-release of 26 old-time music tunes by Wisconsin's beloved Goose Island Ramblers, Bruce Bollerud, George Gilbertsen, and Wendy Whitford, who began performing their special blend of accordion, fiddle, guitar, and humor in the Madison area in the 1960s. Included are original songs by the Ramblers ranging from the zany "There's No Norwegians in Dickeyville" to the "Ballad of JFK."
