Saturday, May 31, 2014. 7 pm. Emerald ash borer first showed up in the Detroit area in 2002 and now has made its way into Wisconsin including the Northern Unit. Bill McNee, DNR Forest Health Specialist, will uncover what havoc this beetle causes, ways to control its invasion, and how to protect your ash trees.  Biking through Habitats Outdoor Adventure
Thursday, June 12, 2014. 6:30-8 pm. Hop on your bicycle to peddle at a leisurely pace along the Lake-to-Lake Bike Trail between the Mauthe Lake and Long Lake Recreation Areas. As we peddle we will investigate the natural habitats traversed by the trail. This is about an eight-mile round trip. You need to provide your own bicycle, helmet, and other bicycling gear. Gary Henschel, Owner of Henschel's Indian Museum, will usher listeners back 10,000 years when indigenous people used hand-hewed tools to live off the land and water in the area that is now called the Sheboygan Marsh. Learn about sacred burial rites, and view artifacts and tools unearthed during archaeological digs on the Henschel Homestead farm.
