Friday, August 16, 2019. 7:30 pm. Spend time with a naturalist on a family-friendly hike. We'll use magnifiers, binoculars, or other exploring tools to discover what's happening outdoors. Watch the "just a teeny bit past" full moon rise at Havenwoods. We will witness the switch from daytime animals to nighttime animals.  Ben Shahn: For the Sake of a Single Verse

This semi-autobiographical novel tells the story of a college student from an aristocratic Danish family living in destitute in Paris in the early 1900s. Although Shahn first read the novel while visiting Paris in the 1920s, he didn't create the illustrations until 1968-a year before his death. Free.  Objects Redux: Clay, Glass, and Metal, 1960-1985

 It's Like Poetry: Building A Toshiko Takaezu Archive at RAM

While unassuming in her disposition, artist Toshiko Takaezu (1922-2011) was a bona fide ceramic superstar who pushed the boundaries of clay in the late twentieth century. Inspired by nature and the environment, Takaezu created work that embodied a poetic balance between art and life. This exhibition in Racine Art Museum's Windows on Fifth Gallery features a selection from the more than 30 Takaezu works now in the museum's collection.
