 Seniors Summer Picnic in Kletzsch Park
Wednesday, July 15, 2015. 11:30 am. The club's annual summer picnic is a catered event and will include broasted chicken, bratwurst, sauerkraut, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, brownies, cookies, coffee, soda, and beer. You can bring along a game to play (e.g., sheepshead, bridge, or a board game) or simply enjoy the day talking. Nonmembers are always welcome at club events.  Getting the Most Out of Your Bridge Game: Lessons for Intermediate and Advanced

This seminar will refresh participants' knowledge of bridge with an overview of popular conventions, bidding, responses, opening leads, & carding. We will review Standard American, Two-Over-One & simplified Precision bidding systems as well as opening bids, overcalls, & preempts. Discussion of strong bids versus weak bids will lead to analysis of bids like Flannery & Michaels. We will discuss responses to various openers, including Blackwood, 1430, & Gerber.  Introduction to Modern Day Bridge
Sunday, September 27, 2015 through Friday, October 2, 2015. This seminar is for absolute beginners as well as those who have a little experience but need a refresher on the basics. The class will cover the fundamentals of bridge: opening bids of one in a suit, take-out doubles, One No-Trump, Stayman & transfer bids, pre-emptive bidding, strong opening bids of Two No-Trump & Two Clubs, conventions of Gerber & Blackwood, declarer play, & defensive techniques.
