 Snake and Turtle Fest

 Caveman Adventure 5K Obstacle Run
Sunday, October 7, 2018. 8 am. A family friendly 5K adventure run at Maribel Caves County Park with overturned trees, natural springs, challenging man-made obstacles (some muddy) and, of course, Caves! The event will also feature a - mile obstacle course for kids 10 and under. Everyone will receive a shirt, goody bag, and food after the event.  Dairyland Walkers Maple Bluff Walk
Saturday, October 13, 2018. 9 am. Join the Dairyland Walkers on this 10K/6K walk from north Madison into the village of Maple Bluff. The 6K will not go past as many big mansions as the 10K, which will go by the Governor's Residence. There will be views of Lake Mendota. Walkers may register at the Recreation Center and start walking anytime between 9 am and noon; please finish the walk by 3 pm. $3 for volkssport credit or $2 for youths and noncredit adults.  Hunter Sight-in Day
Saturday, November 3, 2018. 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. Everyone is invited to Southern Lakes Church in Elkhorn to sight in their firearms for the upcoming deer season. The use of the shooting range, shooting rests, spotting scopes, safety glasses, ear plugs and targets are all free, as are bore sighting, snacks and a hot lunch!  Halloween Candlelight Cave Tours
Friday, October 19, 2018 through Saturday, October 20, 2018. Visit trails and caves by candlelight, and meet some unusual personalities with strange stories. Educational rather than scary. Minimum age 5 years old. Minors must be accompanied by supervising adult. Tour leaves every half hour 5:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, 4:30 to 8:30 pm on Saturday. Tour lasts about an hour and a half. This is a fundraiser. Half the tickets will be available online at Eventbrite; half the tickets will be available at the door (come early, tickets go fast). Kids $6-$8, Adults $8-$10.  Boots, Brats, Brews, and Boos!
Saturday, October 27, 2018 through Sunday, October 28, 2018. 8 am. Saturday morning we will gear up, put on our costumes, and hit the trail. After arriving at our campsite Saturday afternoon the festivities will begin. We provide brats, burgers and beer. After dinner we will socialize by the fire and award our "best costume" hiker with a special prize. Sunday morning we continue on to hike and enjoy the beauty of the IAT. Approximate mileage for Saturday and Sunday will be 8 miles per day, for a total of 16 miles. See the event link for more information. $35 or 135, two ticket options.
