 Pheasant Branch Moonlight Walk
Friday, October 6, 2017. 6 pm. The Dairyland Walkers are having a (hopefully) moonlight walk, leaving from the shelter in Orchid Heights Park. This will be a guided walk with the 10K walkers leaving at 6 pm and the 5K walkers leaving at 7 pm. The 10K will go to the top of a hill with views of Lake Mendota and the Capitol, then go through the planned neighborhood of Middleton Hills, and through a conservancy on trails and boardwalks. The 5K goes through the conservancy on trails and boardwalks. $3 for volkssporting credit or $2 for youths and noncredit adults. Orchid Heights Park, 3960 Valley Ridge Road, Middleton, Dane County.  AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run
Saturday, October 7, 2017. 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. Celebrating its 28th anniversary in 2017, AIDS Walk Wisconsin and 5K Run is the largest HIV fundraising event in Wisconsin. Starting and finishing on the Summerfest Grounds, the fully-supported event takes place on Milwaukee's lakefront and includes rest stops, breakfast and an opening ceremony with a celebrity Honorary Chair, all in a fun and festive atmosphere. Since 1990, the event has raised more than $12.5 million. It is produced by and benefits the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin. free. Henry Maier Festival Park, 635 E.  11th Annual YWCA Rock County Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Wednesday, October 11, 2017. 5:30 pm. The 11th Annual Walk a Mile in Her shoes attracts hundreds of men, women and children, who don red high heels and walk a grueling mile to help bring an end to domestic violence to benefit the YWCA Alternatives to Violence and Transitions for Women programs. Friday, October 27, 2017 through Sunday, October 29, 2017. 5:30PM -9PM. Come enjoy the zoo at night (walking only.) Wear a costume, bring a flashlight & some marshmallows to roast over a fire by the bears. (Normal zoo admission applies.) This will be an experience you won't want to miss!  Bird Watching Hot Spot - Pleasant Valley Park, Milwaukee River
Monday, September 4, 2017 through Monday, September 30, 2019. 4:00 am - 10:00 pm. Pleasant Valley Park is on the West side of the Milwaukee River 10 minuets from downtown in the Riverwest neighborhood. Exceptional variety of birds and wildlife in a protected environmental corridor and flyway. Warblers, crane, blue bunting, orioel, owls,king fisher, herons,raptors,diving and dabbling ducks and other shore birds. Wildlife and plants include jack-in-the-pulpit, foxes, rusty patched bumble bee, mushrooms, fresh water clams and much more. Free!.
