University of Wisconsin-Madison entomology professor Susan Paskewitz and Patrick Irwin, a graduate student and research assistant in entomology, expose their legs to attract and collect live mosquitoes by using a handheld vacuum device on June 12, 2008. The two were conducting field research at a private residence along the edge of the UW Arboretum, where they also monitor the effectiveness of several types of mosquito traps. Paskewitz is an expert on mosquito species and mosquito-related public-health issues.

On June 12, 2008, Patrick Irwin, a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate student and research assistant in entomology, holds a vented chamber containing live mosquitoes collected using a handheld vacuum device. Irwin and entomology professor Susan Paskewitz were collecting the mosquitoes and checking mosquito traps while conducting field research at a private residence along the edge of the UW Arboretum. Paskewitz is an expert on mosquito species and mosquito-related public-health issues.
