Milwaukee County Greenways: 1936

This map from 1936 proposes connecting parkways and boulevards to existing parks in Milwaukee County. The desire to preserve greenspace along rivers and streams is evident.

Anticipating the concept of environmental corridors as important ecological spaces and buffer zones for plants and wildlife, this plan shows an elaborate, connected web of green encircling the more urban areas of the County.
