Community gardens abound in Milwaukee County. The map shows the location of many, but they achanging as resources of land and people change. Some gardens are managed through the University of Wisconsin Extension: Milwaukee County Urban Agriculture Program. Call 414-290-2405 for a list of graden plot locations, guidelines and regulations for use. Or contact the Milwaukee Community Gardening Coalition at 414-777-0483. The Mlwaukee Community Service Corps, AmeriCorps-funded Green Crew 414-276-6272, builds community gardens, trains people to use them, grows vegetables for food pantries and assists with setting up low-cost farmers markets.

You may obtain fresh, organically grown food from farmers in the Milwaukee area by subscribing to a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) operation. For a yearly subscription fee, freshly harvested produce is delivered weekly or monthly to a pickup point in your neighborhood, or you can sometimes pick your own. Membership and delivery fees vary. - Opening soon, the second Outpost will feature a "green" building site using energy efficient technologies, recycled materials, natural landscaping and low-impact sustainable processes. Milwaukee is known for the quality and variety of its restaurants, and vegetarian dining is no exception. Many restaurants list vegetarian meals on their regular menus, some are exclusively vegan.
