016 — Hawthorne Glen Outdoor Education Center
Ten-acre urban nature center with forest and trails, two park shelters, small restored prairie. Used primarily as an education site for local schools, administered by the Milwaukee Public School District and the City of Milwaukee. Morning and afternoon programs available to school groups. Located in the heart of an extensive greenspace of approximately 240 acres., the Milwaukee County Grounds plays host to Milwaukee County's administrative offices and service facilities, community gardens, open greenspace and a business park. In an effort to raise revenue, Milwaukee County wishes to sell off parcels of land, a proposal many Milwaukee County residents vehemently oppose. Milwaukee County Grounds. Call 414-476-6042.
