IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INTERNET SITE PUTS YOU IN TOUCH WITH WISCONSIN SUMMER CAMPS AND YOUTH PROGRAMS

MILWAUKEE, WI (January 21, 2005) - Wisconsin camps are already registering campers for next summer. Wait too long and the camp your child wants may be full. But where do you start? How do you find the right camp for your kids, and how do you make sure it offers the activities and has the facilities you are looking for? Parents with Internet access can start by visiting Wisconsin Summer Camps and Youth Programs at www.wisconline.com/attractions/camps. The camp web pages at Wisconsin Online® download quickly and are easy to read. This Wisconsin web site offers three ways to find summer camps: by region of the state, by program type, and alphabetically by camp name. The site is constantly being updated. 243 youth camps and programs are currently represented, making it "the most comprehensive and detailed listing of Wisconsin summer camps and youth programs available anywhere," according to Wisconsin Online® president David Falck. Unlike most other camp listings, each camp listed at www.wisconline.com is given an entire web page to display information about their camp. The site and its page structure is well thought-out. The emphasis is on information rather than images. The three indices include each camp's full name, owner and location. The regional index starts with a map of Wisconsin with five regions clearly marked. Click in a region for a listing of all camps in that part of the state. Click on a camp name in any index for detailed information provided by that camp's management. The amount of information provided for each camp is impressive. It includes a statement of the camp's philosophy or purpose, whether it's a resident or day camp, whether it is coed or for boys or girls only, the session length or schedule, registration requirements and fees including availability of fee assistance, activities offered in typical sessions, camp medical care, parent visitation policies, location, accreditations, names of the camp director and of the camp owner, and complete contact information. Many camps have provided hyperlinks to their own home pages where you can get even more detailed information about their program and activities, and you can receive immediate response to your questions when you correspond by e-mail. The camps and programs represented include everything from traditional residential camps to activity day camps. Also included are campus-based scholastic programs, nature study and outdoor skills camps, performing and creative arts programs, sports programs and camps that focus on religious instruction and spiritual development. You will also find a number of camps and programs that are designed for those with physical disabilities or learning disorders, or that can accommodate other special needs. Wisconsin Summer Camps and Youth Programs is online year-round, Falck says, and is updated as new information is received from each camp. "Advance planning is essential to ensure the success of your children's summer camp experience," Falck advises. Visit the site at www.wisconline.com to identify your family's interests, then link to the individual camps' home pages for even more detailed information or to request a printed brochure and application. "Make sure your children are involved in the search," Falck says. "Being part of the planning helps them think through what they want to do. It allows them to take responsibility for the decision, prepare for the experience and get excited about it!"
