|By sending your child to the YWCA Camp Downtown Program, we know that you have entrusted us with your most prized possession. Although the camp season represents a small part of the year, we recognize that the camp experience is a very important part of your child's development. Camp will give your child the opportunity to develop social skills, self-respect and community living skills. You are our partners in this journey and we hope by working together that your child gets the most out of their camp experience. |
For 2017 our camp programs will be “Running on STEAM”. Building on the importance of science technology, engineering, the arts and math, the campers will be working together to create projects based on their interest.
In addition, promoting the part having a positive healthy lifestyle (physical and mental health) plays in all aspects in their life and how important it is in their success as they grow to be a productive member of society.
Weekly field trips are being planned, as well as health and wellness activities and service learning projects. New for 2017 – A new 7 and 8-year-old classroom, and more exploring in our downtown community. Also new this year – families of children ages 7-12 can have the child opt out of swim lessons and participate in an extra play swim.
