 Winter Star Gazing
Saturday, February 3, 2018. 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Look through a telescope or binoculars to bring into focus the wonders of the night sky. With the help of knowledgeable night sky observers from the Northern Cross Science Foundation, spy distant planets, dumb-bell nebulas, globular clusters, and so much more. The program will be held only if the skies are clear. This program is best for anyone more than 8 years old. Drop in any time and stay as long as you like. Free.  Pike Lake Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe
Saturday, February 10, 2018. 6:00 pm. 300 candles will welcome all to Pike Lake's 29th Annual Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe. Groomed trails, a roaring bonfire, a warming shelter, warm refreshments and big smiles will make a memorable evening, with or without snow. Northern Cross Science Foundation members will set up telescopes to provide star viewing and guidance. The Friends of Pike Lake and State Forest rangers will be on hand to provide help and guidance.  Moon Faces Nature Storytime
Friday, February 16, 2018. 9:30 - 10:30 am. Has the moon ever smiled at you? Come uncover the many faces of the moon. This hour of nature fun awaits 3 to 6 year olds with accompanying adults. Free.  Moon over Monona Terrace
Friday, April 20, 2018. 7:30-9:30pm. Young and old alike are invited to view the Moon and other celestial objects through a multitude of different telescopes provided by the Madison Astronomical Society (MAS). Activities include short kid-friendly presentations about the moon and other celestial phenomena, plus a kids' fun zone with educational games and prizes! Tickets can be found online. Free.
