 Musical Gems through the Ages - Milwaukee Concert Band May 6th
Sunday, May 6, 2018. 2pm. The program, directed by Jeremy Davis, will feature popular music from different eras of history. Featured will be the Overture "Eroica," based on themes from Beethoven's Third Symphony, the overture from Rossini's Barber of Seville; Corktown Saturday Night, a medley of Irish Jigs arranged by William Rhoads; Bravada, a paso doble by Frederic Curzon; Clare Grundman's Fantasy on American Sailing Songs; and Selection from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin. Saturday, May 12, 2018. 7 pm. Music and prose will highlight the trials and rewards of leaving one's homeland with hope for better tomorrows. The sixty voice chorus, an Irish band, a chamber ensemble, soloists, and narrators will perform a variety of beautiful music. A pre-concert Underground Railroad tour will begin at 6 p.m. (space limited). A post-concert panel talk-back will immediately follow the performance. Then, a reception will provide an opportunity for enjoying friendly discussion and light refreshments. Adults $15/$17, Seniors $12/$14, Students $5.  Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra
Wednesday, May 23, 2018. 7 pm. Members perform "chamber music". This smaller orchestra will do works from the Baroque period including Vivaldi's Four Seasons, music of Handel and Bach.  Summer Concert at Jacobs House
Sunday, August 7, 4011. 1 pm. As part of the summer concert series at homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, there will be a concert at the Jacobs House featuring Dawn Lawler on flute and Mary Ann Harr playing the harp. Guests will receive a tour from Susan Jacobs Lockhart, who lived in the home as a young girl. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.
